About the Presentation

This training is designed to teach participants an intro and basics of applying research proven, exposure-based therapeutic strategies for working with those with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Participants will receive an overview of how OCD can present, how to conduct assessment on symptoms, and work to apply ERP as treatment. Participants will learn the framework of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and why other treatment approaches such as coping skills and relaxation not only often don’t work, but might actually increase or maintain anxiety.  Factors, such as family and school accommodation that contribute to the maintenance of anxiety will also be discussed.  A general treatment outline using case examples will be provided to highlight the main areas of interventions incorporated during treatment. Presenter will provide creative examples of exposure-based interventions for OCD.
