Janette is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapist (EMDR), Comprehensive Resource Model Practitioner, and Life Force Yoga Practitioner. Janette has been providing therapy to adults, adolescents and children since 1995. Janette has worked in a variety of settings: hospitals, schools, a rape crisis center, a community clinic. residential treatment facilities and has been in private practice since 2007. Janette uses a variety of creative approaches to assist men, women, teenagers and children with depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues and trauma. Janette also works with women who have been diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis, an inflammatory condition of the bladder wall.

Janette believes that the relational strength of therapy can be healing in and of itself. She supports with attentive listening, feedback and open diaglogue. Janette assists people with improving boundaries and relationships, building confidence and self-acceptance and identifying life paths and goals. Emphasis is placed on each person’s personal strengths, awareness of options and connection to others. Janette believes that the body often holds onto frightening, painful experiences, leading people to feel “stuck,” in patterns of emotional and/or physical distress. Janette helps clients to process their experiences, feelings and thoughts using mindfulness, cognitive restructuring and various body centered methods of anxiety and pain reduction. These techniques are designed to facilitate a shift in trauma’s hold on the body. Janette favors a holistic approach, including exploration of options for exercise, diet, health and lifestyle changes that may positively affect mood.
