Joanie Albrecht Ph.D. began her career in the mental health field at an agency devoted to individuals and families who had experienced trauma. She has been in private practice since 2001 working with Trauma, Depression and Anxiety, PTSD, Addiction and LGBTQ issues. She also loves working with couples, assisting in the process of changing ineffective communication patterns and establishing healthier relational dynamics.

Although Joanie’s trainings are in Psychodynamic and Jungian psychotherapy, she primarily works from a Relational Model, believing that therapy is an empathetic, collaborative process. She provides a warm and caring atmosphere in which to explore issues that prevent people from living a full and joyful life. She works primarily with adults and couples endeavoring to increase the understanding and communication which are so vital to harmony within one’s self and in relationship to others.

“The heart of psychotherapy is a collaborative effort. I bring curiosity, warmth, engagement, and openness to you in the process of discovering what changes you want to make to feel greater fulfillment. We all long to better understand ourselves, as well as to express who we are to others. I love being a part of the psychotherapy process; it is both trustworthy and effective.” ~ Joanie Albrecht Ph.D.
