Julia Sostrin is a licensed clinical social worker and certified alcohol and drug counselor. Julia has 10 years of experience working in residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient levels of care. Julia incorporates humor and active listening in sessions with clients. She has a direct, honest, yet compassionate style and works from various modalities, including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, and psychodynamic orientations.
Julia loves to work with a wide range of folx but specializes in working with mood disorders, substance use disorders, dual-diagnosis presentations, various trauma presentations, depression and anxiety. Julia has a passion for working with the LGBTQIA+ population and identifies as trans-femme, offering a unique therapeutic experience for folx on the queer and gender spectrum.
Julia hopes to reach clients through an emphasis on the therapeutic alliance. The relationship between therapist and client is crucial for lasting change, and Julia hopes to have each client reach a place of happiness and well-being. Julia is collaborative in her approach to therapy, allowing clients to have an equal part in their treatment. When not in the office, Julia enjoys spending time with her two cats, dog and partner. Julia also enjoys writing and going to the beach.
