Lauren Prescott, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Master of Social Work (MSW) Degree, Aurora University, Aurora, IL
Pronouns: she/her

Lauren is a licensed clinical social worker. She received her Master’s degree in social work from Aurora University and her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from North Central College. Lauren has been practicing for over 5 years. Lauren works with children and early adolescents who struggle with a variety of stressors.

Lauren utilizes evidence-based therapies that will support the changes the client(s) wants to make. Together, as a team, Lauren and the client(s) will begin to gain insight, identify obstacles, and find ways to conquer obstacles to reach our therapy goals. Some of Lauren’s speciality areas are anxiety, autism spectrum disorder, depression, ADHD, self-esteem, interpersonal relationship needs, grief, and Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder. Lauren’s counseling and therapy approaches consist of; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), art techniques, Play Therapy, Gestalt, Mindfulness, Strength-Based Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Conflict-Resolution Therapy, Parent Education & Support, Individual and Group Counseling, and Client-Centered Therapy.

Lauren believes that therapy is about YOU, the client(s). Lauren’s goal for your child, no matter their age, is to provide a comfortable, safe, positive, and supportive environment for them to express how they feel and what they are going through. Lauren strives to understand who your child is as an individual and to teach your child the necessary skills they may need to handle obstacles they encounter.

Lauren and the client(s) will first build a trusting relationship that is supportive for the client(s). Taking the time to build rapport, connection, and trust ensures that Lauren and the client will work together to achieve targeted goals. Lauren wants her client(s) to know they can share their thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and issues in a safe place without judgement.

As a parent, you have been through the same stages of life as your child, so you understand some of the struggles, problems, and concerns they are experiencing. Even though you have been there, sometimes children and teens can benefit from talking to another adult. While your child and Lauren will form a working team, all consensual parties involved will also need to be part of the team. Lauren believes in providing as much consistency as possible. At times, Lauren will educate and provide approaches and suggestions for what to do at home to support and help your child with their particular struggles. This includes partnering with additional outside providers, schools, etc. How much and how often the team connects and works together will depend on their age, maturity level, the issues they are working on, etc.

“I truly love helping others! It has always been a part of me. I welcome to share my passion and positive attitude with you. I strive to provide a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental approach to enable your child’s personal stressors. I welcome your child in a way that feels comfortable for them to flourish! Can’t wait to start our journey together!”
