Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor

Pronouns: she/her

Do you struggle with stress, anxiety, or depression in your life? Painful thoughts and feelings can be like quicksand and Margie works with all of her clients to help maintain a balance. She offers a welcoming and encouraging environment in which to explore factors leading to resilience and strength. Using primarily Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, an evidence-based approach based on decades of research, Margie works with her clients on living their values through their actions and beliefs. Together, she will take a holistic view of both strengths and resources and incorporate them into an action plan to improve one’s life. Bringing mindfulness and self-compassion to their thoughts and feelings helps foster peace of mind and purpose in their life. Learning how to lessen the impact and hold of painful thoughts and feelings is one of the major concepts in ACT that Margie and her clients work on together.

Anxiety and depression are two of her specialties and Margie brings many other diverse experiences to the therapy room. Margie is fluent in Spanish and she works with family members who support their loved ones through a multitude of physical and mental health issues. Margie has also spent years working with caregivers of the elderly and is experienced in collaborating with them on solutions to the challenges of dementia.
She is a licensed mental health therapist in Chicago and has an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in Psychology and Spanish Literature and two master’s degrees in Rehabilitation Counseling and Clinical Psychology from Illinois Institute of Technology. She has served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay, worked with veterans at a local Veteran Affairs hospital, and has had comprehensive training in community mental health.

Do you feel like your life is “off track”? That you don’t have a clear direction for where you want to go? Margie will help her clients find that life compass and live according to their values. She is happy to walk with all of her clients on this journey.
