Do you struggle with stress, anxiety or depression in your life? Painful thoughts and feelings can be like quicksand and we will work together to help maintain your balance. I offer a welcoming and encouraging environment in which to explore factors leading to resilience and strength. Using primarily Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, an evidence-based approach based on decades of research, I will work with you on living your values through your actions and beliefs. We will take a holistic view of both your strengths and resources and incorporate them into an action plan to improve your life. Bringing mindfulness and self-compassion to your thoughts and feelings helps foster peace of mind and purpose to your life. Learning how to lessen the impact and hold of painful thoughts and feelings is one of the major concepts in ACT that we will work on together.
Anxiety and depression are two of my specialties and I bring many other diverse experiences to the therapy room. I work with family members who support their loved ones through a multitude of physical and mental health issues. I also have spent years working with caregivers of the elderly and am experienced in collaborating with them on solutions to the challenges of dementia.
I’m a licensed mental health therapist in Chicago and have an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in Psychology and Spanish Literature and two master’s degrees in Rehabilitation Counseling and Clinical Psychology from Illinois Institute of Technology. I have served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay, worked with veterans at a local Veteran Affairs hospital, and have had comprehensive training in community mental health.
Do you feel like your life is “off track”? That you don’t have a clear direction for where you want to go? I will help you find that life compass and live according to your values. I am happy to walk with you on this journey.
