Mariann began her career working in the field of substance abuse and then became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Mariann specializes in working with individuals and couples with a multitude of issues including substance abuse, dual diagnosis, life transitions, anxiety, depression, marital problems, premarital issues, newlywed adjustments and child-rearing problems.
Mariann integrates a family systems approach addressing the needs of the individual and/or couple as they navigate family life cycle transitions and/or the substance abuse recovery process. Mariann specializes in helping couples facing conflict to improve communication and rebuild their relationships. Mariann works with individuals on all phrases of the recovery process.
Mariann integrates techniques from Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, Acceptance Commitment Therapies, 12 Step model, motivational interviewing and marital therapies. In my clinical experience I have developed a strong compassion for understanding the human struggle and quest for knowledge. I believe every person and couple has a story, an experience, and a distinct way of viewing and coping with life.
