Mike Harkovich, Clinical Intern

Clinical Intern, Graduate Student in Clinical Mental Health

National Louis University
Pronouns: he/they

Mike Harkovich (He/They) is currently a graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at National Louis University.

He navigates the therapeutic process through a cultural and trauma-informed lens, recognizing the individuality of each person and their experience, and how intergenerational trauma can impact mental health. His art background allows him to see how art can help process trauma, navigate anxieties, and gain a better understanding of oneself. Mike incorporates therapeutic frameworks such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), as well as somatic approaches, to address diverse communities and experiences, including grief, gender and sexual identity, chronic pain and illness, anxiety, depression, trauma, and existential concerns. He considers himself a “forever student”; he is always looking to learn something new, and loves involving art in the process, whether that is analyzing a song’s impact on the brain or the psychology of Love Island.”
