Patrick Mooney, Clinical Intern

Clinical Intern

Pronouns: he/him

Patrick (he/him) joins The Juniper Center as a clinical intern from Adler University Chicago. He is excited about working with adults from all walks of life, but especially men who are committed to making meaningful change in their life and relationships. He has a basis in Psychodynamic therapy, which essentially means he believes our past informs our present. He is also passionate about the mind/body connection and aspires to be sensorimotor trained in the future. He believes fervently in a positive therapeutic relationship, a holistic client centered approach, and that clients be held in unconditional positive regard.

His multicultural and social justice focused studies at Adler have contributed to him being a trauma informed, sex/kink/poly positive, and sexuality/gender affirming practitioner. Patrick is extremely motivated to continue his growth and exposure in these areas at The Juniper Center.

As a career changer in his forties, Patrick may be newer to counseling but not to life and the hurdles it can present. He attended undergrad at the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign and received a BFA in photography (let’s talk about art!). He is currently working towards a Masters in Clinical Mental Health counseling at Adler University with an anticipated graduation in 2024.
