As an artist and art therapist, Tanya believes that creativity comes in many forms. It is her goal to help every individual create a peaceful home environment be it through art or therapy. Being a visual artist means being able to make simple shapes and lines and help them evolve into another form. Art therapy uses lines, shapes and colors to help one heal. How an individual choses to manipulate those various tools determines the final outcome.
Tanya believes that the therapeutic relationship should provide a space for unconditional acceptance. She also believes each individual, no matter their age or ability is the expert of their own lives. Tanya uses a Strength Based, Person Centered approach to help each of her clients uncover and remind them of, the best parts of themselves.
Tanya is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from Chicago State University and a Masters degree in Counseling with a Concentration in Art Therapy. Her clinical experience includes working with adults with persistent mental illnesses in inpatient and outpatient settings. She also has extensive experience working with children. In her spare time she enjoys riding her bike, hiking and going on adventures with her 2 teenage children.
