How I Found God and Poetry, in Spite of Myself - Counseling & Therapy Services - The Juniper Center
Facebook Live with Dr. Margo Jacquot and John Roedel

Watch and ask questions on The Juniper Center Thrive LIVE this Friday, February 4, 2022, at 9:30 am CT.

For John Roedel, his crises of faith and mental health intersect, and his recovery for both was intertwined.

John is the author of “Hey God. Hey John.: What Happens When God Writes Back.” The book started as a blog on Facebook, a “flippant way of making light of his doubts in the Divine.” In the book John tackles such topics as his journey to mental health wellness, his lack of faith, the joy and pain of raising a child with autism, and grief.

A poet, writer, comic, storyteller and terrible dancer, John has also authored two books of poetry, “Any Given Someday: The Poetry of What Comes Next,” and his newest, remedy. A ‘guerilla poet’ (it all comes to him in a rush and he has to write it down immediately) John penned and posted “The Anatomy of Peace (formerly titled “How to Live with My Body)” in 25 minutes at a coffee shop, only find out later it had gone viral.

We’ll hear his story as we talk about mental health, faith and the therapeutic power of writing and poetry.
